About Paraiba Tourmaline
Tourmaline is a mineral family with an enormous range of colours, but the Paraiba variety stands apart because of the copper and manganese responsible for its electric glow. It was first discovered in the late 1980s in the Brazilian state of Paraíba, and comparable copper-bearing tourmaline has since been found in parts of Mozambique and Nigeria, which the trade now also calls Paraiba tourmaline.
