Each of the twelve Rashis is governed by a planet, and wearing the natural stone linked to that planet is believed, in tradition, to support the qualities that planet represents — courage, clarity, calm, discipline or wisdom. The 12 Rashis & Their Gemstones

The table below lists all twelve Rashis in order, the ruling planet (Rashi lord), the traditional life stone (Jeevan Ratna) of that sign lord, and the traditional lucky / fortune stone (Bhagya Ratna) — the gemstone of the ninth-house lord counted from your sign. Vrishabh, Tula and Kumbh are ruled by Venus, whose classical life stone is the Diamond (Heera). Where a natural diamond is not preferred, tradition allows recognised substitutes (uparatna) such as White Sapphire, White Zircon or Opal — the natural options we stock. The lucky-stone column follows the ninth-house (Bhagya) lord counted from each Rashi and reflects traditional Jyotish practice, not a fixed rule for every chart.

Life Stone vs Lucky Stone vs Benefic Stone

One reason people are given different gemstone recommendations is that Vedic astrology recognises more than one kind of ratna. Understanding the three main types explains why your "Rashi stone" and your "lucky stone" may not be the same thing.

A gemmologist or astrologer will weigh all three against your running planetary period (dasha) before advising which stone — or combination — to wear first. Vedic Jyotish Gemstone vs Western Birthstone

These are two entirely different systems that happen to share the word "gemstone". A Vedic Jyotish gemstone is astrological and personalised; a Western birthstone is calendar-based and largely symbolic. The table shows how they compare.

How to Wear Your Rashi Ratna

Traditional Jyotish practice pairs each planet's gemstone with a specific metal, finger and day. These are long-standing customs, not rules that suit every chart — always confirm weight (in ratti) and timing with an astrologer, and buy only natural, certified stones.

A stone is traditionally cleansed (in raw milk or Gangajal) and worn after a simple prayer or the planet's beej mantra on its day and hour.
